It has been a long time since I saw so much as a screenshot or idea of split-screen being implemented in a new game, but the upcoming souls-like game Hellpoint has revealed they will have both split-screen and online co-op multiplayer in their game! Developer Cradle Games and publisher tinyBuild have revealed this co-op trailer along with a release date which is set for July 30th on PC via Steam and Epic Games, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
This game has been a long time coming, but it’s good they followed through to include cooperative gameplay in it. It isn’t a mode you tend to see in the hardcore gameplay style that comes with anything souls-like. There is plenty we know about the game from our original interview with the team from 3 years ago, but it only mentioned PvP for online and it is good to see they will have co-op online as well.
Now we just need to figure out if the gameplay is entertaining and if there will be cross-play to avoid platform restrictions. Either way, it’s great to see the co-op in action with their latest trailer and a release date that isn’t far off. Are you excited for a new challenge that you can venture through with a friend?
