If you're like me, Still Wakes the Deep didn’t just unsettle you, it stuck with you. The atmosphere, the storytelling, that lingering dread, few narrative horror games have hit me as hard. It was one of my favorite horror games of the year, and the moment I rolled credits, I was already hoping for more. Today, that hope becomes reality.
Secret Mode and The Chinese Room have officially revealed Siren’s Rest, a paid story expansion for the BAFTA-winning Still Wakes the Deep, launching June 18th for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. And yes, it’s taking us right back to the haunting wreckage of the Beira D.
Set over a decade after the events of the original game, Siren’s Rest sees players descend into the sunken remains of the oil rig, now resting eerily in the North Sea’s cold, dark depths. This isn’t just a return, it’s a new kind of nightmare. You’ll explore the underwater wreckage with tools like a cutting torch, crowbar, and camera, trying to piece together what happened to the crew in their final hours. But of course, this being Still Wakes the Deep, something else is down there with you, something the sea itself couldn’t destroy.
What makes this expansion even more exciting is the new creative talent behind it. The story is penned by Sagar Beroshi (Helldivers 2), and features an impressive voice cast including Lois Chimimba (Doctor Who, Shetland), Lorn Macdonald (Bridgerton, The Lazarus Project), and David Menkin (Final Fantasy XVI, Alan Wake 2), once again under the direction of Kate Saxon.
I adored the base game, and I’ve been craving more of its world, its mood, its submerged terror. Getting to dive back in with a new narrative and new characters is exactly what I was hoping for.
Siren’s Rest surfaces next week, and I’ll be there, flashlight flickering and heart racing.
What about you? Ready to revisit the rig?
