After two years, Hyperkin Duke has proven that big controllers are back and ready for old and new fans alike. With their latest controller, that will launch May 18th and is currently available for pre-order in the UK for £69.99, is officially licensed by Xbox and its the first ever third-party controller to bear both an original Xbox design and logo. Not only did Hyperkin collaborate with Blackley, working together to replicate the look and feel of the original Duke, but they have set it up to be function-able with both the Xbox One and a Windows 10 PC.
What really makes this controller stick out from the other retro-styled controllers out there is the animated logo in the center. Simply pressing the center button will cause the original Xbox animated logo to play right on the controller!
“It’s a bizarre experience, to see a joke on Twitter become a real product,” Blackley said. "Seeing all these gamers so truly happy to get the new Hyperkin Duke is pretty goddamn superb.”
Here's what is returning to the latest Duke controller and why this might be the exact controller you have been waiting to make a modern return:
- Original animated Xbox startup screen played right inside the Xbox button
- Bumpers
- 9 ft. detachable USB cable (required to use controller)
- 3.5 mm headset jack
- Option and View buttons
- Classic Xbox button layout, including the original Black and White buttons (mirroring the bumpers)
It's great to see that not only are classic games being remastered these days, but also the classic controllers that many of us grew up using for every game session. This is a real treat for all the Xbox fans out there. Do you plan on getting yourself this nostalgia filled hardware?
