In 2019, we saw the release of World War Z, a game adaptation of both the film (2013) and book (2006). The game’s developer, Saber Interactive is back for a 2021 release of the sequel, World War Z: Aftermath! Just as the first one was, this is a co-op zombie shooter where the name of the game is taking down hordes of the undead while trying to get through cities befallen to chaos. Aftermath will too be an episodic adventure taking place in Rome, Vatican City, and Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula.
We’ll fight the undead using returning characters and new characters along with the all-new melee system which features unique moves, perks, and dual-wield weapon options. If you thought swarms in the first game were brutal, wait until you get a load of the new Horde Mode XL game mode within Aftermath. It features hundreds of more zombies than ever before and will severally test your strength.
Unlike the first game which had players take control of characters in third-person, Aftermath will allow players to experience the game in first-person as well. This’ll deliver a more immersive experience that’s sure to heighten the tactics of its gameplay. The game will also have players level up 8 different classes which include the Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Slasher, Medic, Fixer, Exterminator, Dronemaster, and the brand-new class, Vanguard. Each one has their own playstyles of course so players will want to strategize in order to properly use their class to their best ability.
World War Z: Aftermath is set to release this year (2021) on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will also feature backwards compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at 4K|60 FPS.
