Xbox’s ROG Ally Handhelds Are OFFICIALLY Dropping This October—And I Need One in My Hands, ASAP

During today’s Xbox broadcast at gamescom 2025, Xbox confirmed that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are officially launching on October 16th, just in time to dominate holiday wishlists. First teased at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this year, these handhelds promise to bring the full weight of Xbox, Battle.net, and PC storefronts straight into your hands. No compromises. Just pure gaming freedom, anywhere.

And I’ll be honest—I’m already plotting how to snag one. Though, the big question in my head is, where will this beast land in the power rankings of handheld gaming? Steam Deck, Switch, Legion Go, ROG Ally, and now the Xbox Ally—it feels like we’re in the middle of a handheld space race, and this might be Xbox’s Sputnik.

On launch day, the Xbox Ally family will roll out across the U.S., U.K., Japan, Canada, and a huge global list of markets, with more regions joining soon. China will see the Xbox Ally X this fall, with the standard model following in early 2026. Pre-orders and pricing details are coming, but my calendar is already circled in red for October 16th.
