5 Games To Play If You Loved Pragmata

If you’ve played Pragmata, you know just how good it feels to play. From the movement and shooting to puzzle-solving and story, there’s a lot of great stuff within its 12-hour runtime. It may feel like there won’t be many games to match.

Fortunately, if you’ve hit credits on Pragmata and want something like it, we have the treat for you. We have five games that we think are great for those who want more of what it had to offer, just in a few way. Whether it’s more space-themed shooting, flowy combat, or emphasis on partnership, there’s something for all here to check out!

Dead Space Remake

Available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S

Wanted Pragmata to be a bit scarier? Well, EA did that in 2008, then reborn in 2023 with Dead Space. Following mechanic Isaac Clarke, you are a lone wolf against killer aliens called Necromorphs, set in a desolate spaceship. Combat is third-person shooting, so it won’t be too much of a contrast to Pragmata. However, there isn’t a Diana to talk to, only yourself, and it’s not about cats. If you are up for some good lunar frights that Pragmata didn’t have, Dead Space is a fantastic pick to dive into.

Vanquish

Available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One

Wish there was more movement and shooting in Pragmata? Well, Vanquish is right up your alley! Developed by PlatinumGames, the creators of Bayonetta, this cover shooter came with a bang in 2010 with its unique gameplay and frenetic action. As Sam Gideon, a DARPA agent with a special robotic suit, you’ll shoot your way through enemies in outer space. The title was known for bringing more of a bullet hell feel to shooters, while introducing a fun sliding-boost mechanic to move around and look cool doing it. For Pragmata fans, the space setting and intense combat will feel right at home. Plus, it’s a neat blast from the past that feels both of it’s time but still relevant.

Returnal

Available on PC and PlayStation 5

The floatiness and tense action of Pragmata is a delicate combination. Fortunately, there is one title that comes close to its gameplay: Housemarque’s Returnal. Set on an alien planet, you play as a shipwrecked astronaut looking to escape. However, every time you die, you restart your progress. Each run is different but through sheer will and an abundance of luck, you may find safety once again. It’s third-person bullet hell gameplay ups the ante that some of the more chaotic battles in Pragmata have, having to carefully navigate the battlefield and shoot when the time is right. If you’ve played the hard mode for Pragmata, it’ll feel right at home, if not a touch more challenging. Still, if you enjoyed Pragmata’s combat and alien atmosphere, you will love Returnal.

Control

Available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S

Feeling like a superhero on the battlefield feels great in Pragmata, as Hugh can move around with ease and with little effort. Fortunately, another title fulfilled those purposes, too: Remedy’s Control. The game takes place in the Old House, a building which holds a mysterious power and only you, Jesse Faden, can stop it from breaching into the world. Armed with only a pistol (though it can morph into different gun types), you’ll fight superpowered foes. Fortunately, you also garnered powers of your own, including flight. The combat feels much like Pragmata, being more agile and powerful on the field, so it won’t be too difficult to adapt to. Seeing as its sequel, Control Resonant, comes out this year, it’s a great time to enter the Old House and have a crazy good time.

The Last of Us

Available on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5

Great video game friendships can be hard to come by, especially between someone older and younger. Pragmata’s Hugh and Diana are a fantastic duo that brings tons of relatability and fun to the world. While not too cheery, Naughty Dog crafted an iconic one with Joel and Ellie in 2013’s The Last of Us. As mercenary Joel, you are tasked with bringing the rebellious youth Ellie to California and safe from the dangers of the world, like infectious zombies and smugglers. The playful banter between Joel and Ellie feels like a parent-kid relationship, a touch like Pragmata’s Hugh and Diana. However, it is a much more mature story and setting, so keep that in mind.

Pragmata is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
