During Xbox’s 20/20 online showcase, Bloober Team (creators of Blair Witch, Observer, and Layers of Fear) announced their largest and most ambitious project thus far, The Medium. Scheduled to release later this year on Xbox Series X and PC, The Medium throws players into the shoes of Marianne, a medium who is haunted by visions as she interacts with the world of the living, and the dead. With the ability to see into both worlds, Marianne is given a wider perspective, allowing her to clearly see that there is not just one truth to any given situation.
All of Bloober Team’s games feature a focus on a specific topic or theme that is the center of the game’s technological and creative design. In regards to the central theme/topic of The Medium, Piotr Babieno (CEO at Bloober Team) stated: ”In The Medium, we focus on perspective and perception. When you change your point of view, you discover that things are more complicated and nuanced than you initially thought.”
During an interview that was conducted on the Xbox 20/20 showcase, game producer, Jacek Zeiba also touched on The Medium’s main theme, as well as dove into what inspired the psychological horror title.

Bloober Team has also announced that they are working with the Legendary composer, Akira Yamaoka, best known for his work from Silent Hill. Yamaoka will be teaming up with Bloober Team’s own, Arkadiusz Reikowski, to create the game’s original ‘dual’ score that will no doubt be truly unique, and most certainly haunting.
The Medium is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X and PC later this year. If you wish to learn more about the upcoming psychological horror title, you can visit the game’s official website.
