Dispatch Chapter 3 and 4 Continued Review: Things Are Heating Up

If you haven’t checked out my earlier review of Dispatch Chapters 1 & 2, it’s worth going back to that first — because everything I hoped for in those initial impressions has finally come together here. Chapters 3 & 4 take everything that felt promising about Dispatch and elevate it in nearly every way. The pacing is sharper, the stakes feel higher, and all my earlier concerns have been addressed in ways that genuinely surprised me.

Gameplay & Story

When we last left off, MechaMan was still on his journey to prove himself alongside the Z-Team — a ragtag group of ex-criminals trying to make good as superheroes. These new chapters put a much stronger emphasis on the dispatching side of things, and this time, it doesn’t just feel like a tacked-on mechanic. The missions flow naturally with the story, and the choices you make in the field actually feel like they have narrative weight.

The story really starts to branch here, too. Your decisions begin to shape not only how MechaMan interacts with his team, but how the team itself evolves under pressure. Chapter 3 in particular delivers the first major, game-changing decision that sets the tone for what’s clearly building toward something big. There’s romance, inner conflict, and some genuinely powerful moments of reflection and tension between the Z-Team members — all told with the kind of cinematic energy that made classic Telltale games so memorable.

And speaking of performance, Aaron Paul absolutely shines in his role. Every line he delivers has weight — you can feel the emotion, frustration, and resolve in his delivery. His performance elevates the dialogue, grounding the more outlandish comic-book moments with real humanity.

Feedback

Most of my earlier criticisms have been addressed — pacing, decision impact, and engagement have all improved dramatically. What I’d love to see in the remaining chapters is a real payoff to all the decisions made so far. The setup is there, and it’s building tension beautifully, but we haven’t quite hit that explosive turning point yet. I’m expecting a major narrative “KABOOM” moment soon, and if the writing continues on this trajectory, it’s going to hit hard.

Verdict (Chapters 3 & 4)

With Chapters 3 & 4, Dispatch is proving itself to be the true return to form that fans of the old Telltale-style games have been waiting for. The writing, pacing, and emotional depth have all leveled up, and I can’t wait to see how the final chapters bring it all together. If things keep heating up like this, Dispatch might just become one of the most memorable narrative experiences of the year.

Chapter 5 & 6 review coming soon! However, due to some technical issues we will no longer be getting the episodes early so reviews will be going up later in the day.
