We have another day with an accidental leak, but unlike the one from Avowed, this one should be taken with a little bit of salt. GameStop just put out a tweet to encourage players to pre-order the latest entry, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater but in doing so accidentally revealed the release date for the game in the process.
UPDATE: Gamestop admits that the release date was an error on their part.
Yesterday, Avowed had its release date revealed by the official blog, and today we have GameStop revealing the release date for a game that we previously thought was releasing in 2025. However, with this tweet, we may have to wait for Konami to issue an update, as it is equally likely that GameStop may have an outdated release date, or perhaps the game was not delayed after all?
In their tweet, they state that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is set for a November 17th release date which would make it tie in with Assassins Creed Shadows, and Avowed a week before. This would be a difficult time for gamers to choose between three major releases and could be a problem. Another issue is how the date in question is a Sunday, which further makes the release date questionable.
It’s also worth noting that earlier today, Konami revealed the limited and collector’s edition for the game which indicates the game could still be coming in 2024 and it makes the 2025 release delay less likely. However, now we should wait to see what Konami says.
While GameStop is a reliable source of information, it is worth mentioning that they could have outdated information and Konami may have a new release date. However, if the game is releasing this year and only a few days after 2 other major titles, it can definitely be trouble for the success of the title.
