Hidden Gems: Sunken Realms is a Fine Distraction

Well, it’s that time of year where we are buried with big game releases. Yet, there's a particular kind of game that doesn't demand much of you and gives back more than expected, and Sunken Realms lands squarely in that category. It's polished to a degree that a lot of indie releases never reach: menus that work, systems that hold together, none of the rough seams you brace yourself for at this price point. Someone clearly spent time on the parts that don't show up in trailers. The music deserves particular mention, because it's not just competent background filler but genuinely good, the kind of soundtrack you notice while playing and then find yourself thinking about later.

If you're burnt out on sixty and seventy dollar releases that want three hundred hours of your life, or you're just killing time until the next big thing arrives, this is a worthwhile detour. It's not trying to be anyone's game of the year, and it doesn't need to be. Sunken Realms is a small, well-made thing that respects your time and your wallet, and there are worse ways to spend an evening than finding out what's down there.

Sunken Realms isn’t revolutionary by any means but it is a solid game with some killer music that rogue-lite dungeon fans will definitely fid something to love here!
