Starting your first playthrough of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave can be quite overwhelming, even as a seasoned Fire Emblem player. You not only have to choose which route to play first, but you also have over a dozen hours of playtime in each route before Part 2 even begins. To make the journey less arduous for you, here are some beginner’s tips for any Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave player.
Unlock Blessings
Some of the best buffs you can get during a combat encounter in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave are Blessings. These are bonuses you can get from the Gods of Dagsion, but at the start of the game, you only get Fortuna’s Blessing. You unlock new Blessings by performing temple service at the various temples in Dagsion.
The temple you put your characters in service to will determine which God’s Blessing you’ll level up and eventually unlock. These Blessings can greatly aid you in battle, such as Aurora’s Blessing that halves physical damage attacks for a turn.
World map fast travel
If you’re worried about traveling too far on the world map, did you know that you can fast travel using carriages? There are a myriad of carriage spots you can find on the map, and once you discover them, you can use them to quickly teleport between each carriage spot.
Traveling on foot can take up many turns during your free time, so instead you should figure out a route using a carriage to save you time. This way, you can make it to and from Dagsion and not miss out on any of the special events going on in the city.
Paralogue battles
Just like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Fortune’s Weave contains paralogue battles. Unfortunately, they’re not as obvious to come across as you’d hope. Paralogues are exclusive combat encounters that center around specific NPCs like the main four protagonists and a few other characters.
You can only unlock these Paralogues by speaking to these characters on specific days of the month during Part 1 of certain characters’ paths. The game won’t tell you when these Paralogues are available, so keep an eye out for when these Paralogues become available for some extra story content.
Part 1 completion
I know it may be tempting to swap routes during Part 1 of a character’s story, but you may want to hold off on doing that for various reasons. Once you complete Part 1 of one character’s route, progress like unlocked Blessings, completed side quests, and map icons will carry over.
Swapping routes during Part 1 will be more tedious because you’ll have to unlock things like map progress and Blessings all over again. Completing the other routes will be a lot easier once you complete Part 1 of your first route.
Complete weekly activities
Finally, remember to return to Dagsion weekly to complete activities that only become available once a week. For example, the arena training and temple service are only available once a week.
Once the weekly activities reset, you can return to Dagsion to complete those activities to get the most use out of them. If you neglect these activities, you’ll realize later that you could’ve been doing them more often.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
