How to Change Your Appearance in Nioh 3

One of the first things you do in Nioh 3 is customize the protagonist of this story. It’s an extensive character creator system that allows you to share codes with others and even create two separate looks for both combat styles. It’s understandable if, after you spend some time playing, you wonder how to adjust your looks again.

Thankfully, this system isn’t restricted to the beginning of the game. You can even use transmog settings to specify what your equipment looks like. The only catch is that you’ll need to make some story progress before these options become available. Let’s go over how to change your appearance in Nioh 3.

How to change your appearance in Nioh 3

All of the character edit and appearance settings can be accessed once you get permanent access to the Eternal Rift. This occurs after you’ve beaten your first Crucible and been given the Guiding Mirror from Ii Naotora. Then you just need to press L3 while on the map to visit the Eternal Rift.

Your destination is the second floor of the northern building. Walk upstairs and interact with the standing mirror in the second room to enter the Change Your Appearance menu.

The first option, called “Change Appearance,“ lets you go back to the character creator menu. You can make as many changes as you want to your player character, and even save or load different sets.

“Equipment Appearance” is the second option, and this is the game’s equivalent of transmog. You’ll be able to choose the look for every single piece of gear and weapon used in both Samurai and Ninja style. Equipment is cataloged here once you receive it, so no need to hang on to your old and weak weapons.

The last option, “Transform,“ lets you change your appearance to any story NPCs. This is initially greyed out, but you can purchase individual transformations from Matsunaga Hisahide at the Hidden Teahouse. You’ll need to trade in lots of Glory for these, which are best earned in co-op play.

Nioh 3 is available now on PS5 and PC.
