Introducing Disney Lorcana: Wilds Unknown

Disney Lorcana is officially heading into the great unknown with its newest set, Wilds Unknown, and this one feels like a pretty big moment for the game. After several sets of building out the world of Lorcana, Ravensburger is taking Illumineers into strange new biomes, dangerous landscapes, and, most importantly, the long-awaited arrival of Pixar glimmers.

Wilds Unknown is the twelfth main set for Disney Lorcana, and it brings more than 200 new cards to the game. The set follows the events of Winterspell, with glimmers scattered into far-off corners of Lorcana, including the Wilderknot, Torchlight Peaks, and the Great Empty Sea. It is a survival-style adventure set, but with the usual Lorcana charm and a major focus on teamwork.

The biggest headline, of course, is Pixar. For the first time, Disney Lorcana is adding characters from Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Brave. That means Woody, Buzz Lightyear, the Parr family, Merida, and plenty of other fan favorites are finally entering the game.

What is Wilds Unknown?

Wilds Unknown is a new Disney Lorcana set centered around exploration, survival, and working together to make it back home. The story picks up after the thawing of Winterspell, with Disney and Pixar glimmers thrown into dangerous new regions across the realm of Lorcana.

The Wilderknot is a jungle filled with ruins, shadows, quicksand, and overgrown danger. Torchlight Peaks takes players through cliffs, caverns, and lava flows. The Great Empty Sea, despite its name, is no longer an ocean but a massive desert with canyons and a dangerous Leviathan prowling the landscape.

That survival theme shows up across the set’s art, card names, and character designs. Toy Story characters appear as jungle-ready explorers, The Incredibles bring their superhero teamwork into Lorcana, and Brave fits naturally into the set’s adventurous wilderness tone. It is a set that feels focused, both visually and mechanically, while still leaving room for plenty of classic Disney characters.

New Mechanics in Wilds Unknown

Wilds Unknown does not introduce a brand-new keyword mechanic in the same way some previous sets have, but that does not mean the set is light on new gameplay ideas. Instead, the biggest gameplay shift comes from new character classifications and stronger built-in synergy.

The two big additions are Toy and Super. These classifications are important because many cards in the set care about those labels. Toy Story characters naturally use the Toy classification, while The Incredibles characters lean into the Super classification.

This gives Wilds Unknown a more typal feel, similar to building around Pirates, Princesses, Madrigals, or other connected groups. The difference here is that Toys and Supers arrive with a lot of support right away, meaning players should be able to start experimenting with those decks immediately instead of waiting several sets for enough support to build around them.

The Toy cards seem designed around teamwork, protection, and building a board of characters that help each other. The Super cards, fittingly, lean into action, challenges, and using each member of the team in a way that feels true to The Incredibles. This is a smart way to introduce Pixar into Lorcana because it makes these characters feel mechanically connected instead of simply adding them as recognizable names.

There are also Traveler cards in the set, giving Wilds Unknown another thematic layer. These cards fit the exploration theme and help make the set feel like a journey through unfamiliar territory.

What is available in Wilds Unknown?

Wilds Unknown brings the usual Lorcana products, but it also adds a few very important new ones.

Players can pick up standard booster packs and booster display boxes to build out their collections. Booster packs are still the main way most players will chase new cards, test out the set, and look for higher-rarity pulls.

The Illumineer’s Trove also returns for Wilds Unknown. This version includes eight booster packs, a storage box, a lore counter, and six damage dice. For collectors and regular players, the Trove continues to be one of the better ways to get packs and accessories in one package.

One of the biggest changes with this set is the new 2-Player Starter Set. Instead of only focusing on single starter decks, this product includes two curated decks designed so two players can jump in right away. That makes Wilds Unknown a very friendly entry point for new players, especially with characters like Buzz Lightyear and Mrs. Incredible leading the way.

There is also a Collection Starter Set, which is designed more for players who are starting their collection and want a structured way to begin building around Lorcana.

First official pre-release kit

One of the most exciting changes with Wilds Unknown is the debut of Disney Lorcana’s first official Prerelease Box.

This is something Lorcana players have wanted for a while. Other trading card games have had prerelease-style products for years, so seeing Lorcana get its own official version feels like a big step for the game and for local game stores.

The Wilds Unknown Prerelease Box includes six booster packs from the set, one of six possible promo cards, a cardboard deck box, four Disney Lorcana dice, a special set-specific item, and a rules sheet. The product is designed to support local prerelease events, giving players a way to open packs early and play sealed or Pack Rush before the full release.

For local game stores, this is a great move. Prerelease events are often some of the most exciting weekends in any TCG community, and Lorcana getting official support for that kind of experience makes the game feel like it is continuing to grow in the right direction.

Promo cards for Wilds Unknown

Wilds Unknown also has several promo cards tied to different products and organized play opportunities.

The Prerelease Box includes one of six random Traveler promo cards. These are special prerelease versions of existing cards and give collectors another reason to check out prerelease events.

There is also a special Dash Parr – Lava Runner promo available when buying a booster display box at a local game store, making local purchases even more appealing for players who want exclusive cards.

Organized Play promos for Wilds Unknown include Lenny – Toy Binoculars, Zipper – Tiny Helper, and Will O’ the Wisp – Forest Spirit. These are available through local store play, giving players another reason to show up for weekly events.

Set Championship promos also continue with Wilds Unknown. Participants can earn Woody – Jungle Guide, while Top 8 players can earn a foil version of Woody – Jungle Guide. For competitive players and collectors, that should make this set’s championship season especially exciting.

New Properties in Wilds Unknown

The biggest reason Wilds Unknown stands out is the arrival of Pixar in Disney Lorcana.

Toy Story is finally here, bringing Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep, Bullseye, and more into the game. Seeing these characters reimagined as Lorcana glimmers is already exciting, but the jungle explorer theme gives them a fun twist that fits the set perfectly.

The Incredibles also makes its Lorcana debut with the Parr family, Syndrome, Edna Mode, and other familiar faces. This property feels like a natural fit for the game because superhero teams are already built around synergy, action, and big moments. The Super classification helps make that identity clear right away.

Brave is another major debut, bringing Merida and her family into Lorcana. The wilderness theme makes Brave feel especially at home in Wilds Unknown, and Merida is one of the set’s headline characters, including one of the two Iconic cards.

While Pixar is the main focus, the set also includes other Disney characters and properties, keeping it from feeling like a Pixar-only release. Still, this is clearly the beginning of a new era for Lorcana, and Wilds Unknown is the set that opens that door.

Wilds Unknown release dates

Disney Lorcana: Wilds Unknown prerelease events began at local game stores, select Disney Parks, and select Disney stores on May 8th, 2026.

The full wide release followed one week later on May 15th, 2026, making booster packs, the Illumineer’s Trove, the 2-Player Starter Set, and other products available more broadly.

Final Thoughts

Disney Lorcana: Wilds Unknown feels like one of the most important sets in the game so far. Pixar finally joining Lorcana is a huge deal on its own, but the set does more than just add recognizable characters. It gives those characters a clear mechanical identity, introduces the first official Prerelease Box, adds a strong 2-Player Starter Set, and gives players several new ways to jump into the game.

I do not think every set needs to reinvent the wheel with a brand-new keyword, and Wilds Unknown is a good example of why. Sometimes, a set can feel fresh simply by giving players new deckbuilding lanes, strong themes, and characters people have been waiting to play since Lorcana launched.

For collectors, the Lore Nouveau Enchanted cards and Iconic cards are going to be the big chase. For players, Toys and Supers look like the most interesting new deckbuilding paths. For new fans, the 2-Player Starter Set might be one of the easiest ways Lorcana has offered to start playing.

Whether you are here for Woody and Buzz, the Parr family, Merida, or just the next step in Lorcana’s growing story, Wilds Unknown looks like a set worth paying attention to.
