Skullcandy just announced their new line of gaming headsets PLYR and SLYR! We previously covered the news that Skullcandy had something special in the works here. Now we’ve found out just what it was that Skullcandy was developing!
Skullcandy has long been a popular brand among the younger generations, known for its relatively cheap but good-quality audio gear. The company's fans have been asking about a true gaming headset for years and now Skullcandy has delivered.
Skullcandy officially re-enters the gaming scene with 3 different types of headsets geared toward gaming. The headsets will be compatible with PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. The all-new SLYR, SLYR Pro, and PLYR Multi-Platform Gaming Headsets have been designed for delivering and receiving crisp, clear, and detailed audio and communications while maintaining comfort.
For those interested in the premium version of the three, the PLYR Multi-Platform Wireless Gaming Headset includes both wireless and a Bluetooth connection, having the opportunity to choose one, the other, or both if the user wishes to listen to audio from two separate devices. The PLYR headset has also adapted Skullcandy’s Personal Sound tech to create what they call Enhanced Sound Perception or ESP. With the use of an app, users can take a hearing test to personalize their audio drivers to their unique hearing. The app will also let users tune the audio levels and decibel parameters to their own custom settings or use preset versions. The headset also comes with an adjustable suspension headband to decrease pressure on the head during use. Finally, the PLYR headset comes with a detachable mic as well as one built into the headset, and they both use AI technology to cut out background noise like keyboard and mouse clicks.
For entry-level gamers or those on a budget, the SLYR Pro and SLYR Multi-Platform Wired Gaming Headsets are available. The SLYR Pro comes with all the fixings the PLYR does except the SLYR Pro is wired with no Bluetooth, and the headband is more of a classic design for headphones with the normal padding. The basic SLYR model only comes with the microphone and lacks all the fancy features like AI sound control, ESP, or advanced audio control through the app.
In regards to design, the PLYR model is the only option available in its base design while the SLYR Pro and the SLYR will have 3 different colors to choose from.
