Mortal Shell 2 has no shortage of well-hidden items, and it begins making you work for them very early in the game. As a matter of fact, one of the first tricky situations you may find yourself in is attempting to find the Chapel Key.
If you've stumbled upon a door you can't open in the outer part of the Mushroom Village, you'll first need to find the Chapel Key to make it happen. Rest assured, it's one you'll want to open, too, as it will unlock access to a shrine containing some great new loot. Without further ado, let's find that Chapel Key.
Where to find the Chapel Key in Mortal Shell 2
To find the Chapel Key, first fast-travel to the Mushroom Village Beacon. From this beacon, head east until you spot a path leading down to a raging campfire with enemies dancing around it. You'll be able to hear the music from fairly far away.
Go down to the bonfire and slay the enemies there, then take note of a nearby archway that seems out of place. Approach the archway and peer through it facing the bonfire to reveal a statue ahead that is only visible through this portal of sorts.
Now, pass through the archway and approach the statue to find the Chapel Key.
Where to use the Chapel Key
If you've found the Chapel Key but aren't sure where to use it, simply fast travel back to the Mushroom Village Beacon, then take the west path through a short passage this time.
You'll enter an area with some hunter NPCs and a dilapidated chapel behind them, which is sporting a large door with a chain on it. You guessed it — that's the door you need to use the Chapel Key to open. Good luck in the trial that awaits you inside!
Mortal Shell 2 is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
