Unlike its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch will not allow the player to utilize multiple screens for gameplay. Polygon reached out to Nintendo wanting to know if the new tablet would function similarly to the Gamepad of the Nintendo Wii U. Nintendo said the following...
Nintendo Switch is dedicated to deliver a single-screen experience, on whatever screen you might choose.
For me, I see that as both a good and bad thing. It's good to know no game will require that you hold the tablet when you're sitting in the comfort of your own home in front of your television. On the other hand, there were some games that the Wii-U really made better with their second screen item management or HUD displays!
Ultimately, I'm glad they made the decision that they did as it's just one less thing for developers to worry about when they move their 3rd party games over to the console.
