On July 24th, a new update will introduce a full-on multiplayer mode to Hello Games’ space exploration sim, No Man’s Sky. The announcement was made by Sean Murray, co-founder of Hello Games during the latest Xbox live stream. During the stream, Murray shared a general overview of what the new multiplayer mode will bring to the game.
The upcoming update called Next was initially revealed last March and is described by Murray as the “biggest update so far.” The patch will introduce a “full multiplayer experience” to No Man’s Sky’s unique gameplay that features space exploration and survival.
Murray also noted that the devs have been testing the multiplayer feature for No Man’s Sky for the past six months, which resulted in a game that has “a really different feel.” The update will transform No Man’s Sky to a game that, in Murray’s own words, is “fun, funny, and emergent, and kind of intense.”
As promised, the upcoming update will be free to download to all existing owners of the game once the patch becomes available in July. The update will also be included to new purchases of No Man’s Sky on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
