Ocarina of Time: Happy Mask Shop Quest Guide

Side quests in Ocarina of Time are exciting, as they can be confusing. One of those involves Link selling masks to those in need to evoke certain feelings in others, such as awe or fear. If you’re still carrying your Keaton Mask, not knowing who to sell it to, no worries. Here is how to complete the Happy Mask Shop quest in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake.

How to complete the Happy Mask Shop quest in Ocarina of Time

The Happy Mask Shop is located in the Market in Hyrule Castle Town, right next to the Temple of Time. The Happy Mask Salesman is initially absent, but he will return as soon as you show Zelda’s Letter to the gatekeeper at Kakariko Village, opening the path to Death Mountain.

The way it works is simple: the Happy Mask Salesman will give you a mask, and it is up to you to find a buyer. Once a purchase is made, return to the salesman, pay him the mask’s retail value, and move on to the next. You will need to sell four masks, three of which are sellable as soon as you unlock the Happy Mask Shop:

  • Keaton Mask

  • Skull Mask

  • Spooky Mask

  • Bunny Hood

Keaton Mask

The Kakariko Village gatekeeper will ask you to go to the Happy Mask Shop and get him something to impress his kid with. Talk to the Happy Mask Salesman and get the Keaton Mask (value: 10 rupees). Then, talk to the gatekeeper with the Keaton Mask on. He will pay you 15 rupees for it (profit: 5 rupees).

Skull Mask

Get the Skull Mask (value: 20 rupees) and travel to the Lost Woods. Make a left as soon as you enter, and you will find a Skull Kid playing his flute on top of a tree trunk. Talk to him with the mask on, and he will pay you 10 rupees for it. You will have to make up the difference.

Spooky Mask

The Spooky Mask (value: 30 rupees) is next. Travel to Kakariko Village and, during the day, visit the Graveyard. With the mask on, talk to the Graveyard Boy, who, after mistaking you for Dampé, will pay you 50 rupees for it (profit: 20 rupees).

Bunny Hood

The Bunny Hood (value: 50 rupees) is the last mask you need to sell. However, you won’t find the buyer until you collect all the Spiritual Stones. Once you do, locate the Running Man running across Hyrule Field. Talk to him with the Bunny Hood on, and he will pay you a whopping 200 rupees for it (profit: 150 rupees).

Once you sell all the masks, you will receive the Mask of Truth as a reward. The mask will grant you the ability to talk to Gossip Stones across Hyrule. The Happy Mask Salesman will also offer you Goron, Zora, and Gerudo masks. Feel free to borrow those, too, but don’t worry, you won’t transform as soon as you put them on.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake is available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2.
