Supermassive Games landed a commercial and critical success whenever they released Until Dawn in 2015.
The development team has since moved on to create The Dark Pictures Anthology, of which the first game was Man of Medan. And now it’s time for the second game in the series to release in 2020, and publisher Bandai Namco has released a developer diary episode that reveals a lot of the intention and thoughtful design that went into Little Hope, which will bring the narrative anthology to New England for a haunting tale.
Pete Samuels, the CEO of Supermassive Games and the director for The Dark Pictures Anthology, discusses the creative process behind the games in the anthology and in Little Hope specifically. The team is learning with each new game what works best for the story and for the growing number of players who enjoy and anticipate the games.
The dev diary is a chance to learn more about the inspiration behind the second installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, and it’s an informative look at what Supermassive Games is trying to achieve with these wildly-engaging survival horror games.
Let us know if you’ve played Until Dawn or Man of Medan and give a shoutout for a historical story that you think should be the next horror game in The Dark Pictures Anthology.
