The weeks before the release of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 was filled with stories about the overtime culture that was developed in the studio. Several employees revealed that the working environment at Rockstar became toxic as developers clocked in extra hours to ensure the game will meet tight schedules.
Now, it has been discovered that the team behind Red Dead Redemption 2, wanted players to know about the work situation and placed a clever message in the game via a weapon description. Players can view the message by browsing the weapons catalog and looking at the item description for the Cattleman Revolver.
“It is made by skilled laborers who work tireless hours each week and on the weekends for little pay in order to bring you finest revolver in the field today.”
Although one can argue that the weapon description was talking about an entirely different thing, it is still a perfect coincidence given the discussion in the gaming community regarding Rockstar’s working hours. It is interesting to know whether the item description will be patched out in the future, but then that will only do nothing but confirm our suspicions.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is now available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
