Winter Burrow

I’m often a gamer who struggles with survival/crafting games. Honestly, they can be pretty time-consuming and difficult. They rely on a player being diligent in finding resources constantly, whilst forcing players to keep a stringent eye on hunger/health, as well as fending off enemies.

Luckily for me, Winter Burrow lives up to its cozy take on the genre, allowing players ease as they survive in a hostile world. Crafting is intuitive, allowing players to easily craft the items they need, as it’s spelled out pretty plainly. The survival stakes are also extremely clear, and it made surviving seem more manageable than other titles I’ve played that heighten survivability in unrealistic ways.

Overall, the game itself, while isolating and survival-e, feels very warm in its approach to coziness. It’s got a beautiful art style and cute little characters to interact with, making it a joy to play. Playing it on Switch was definitely the way to go, at least for me, as it really made the game feel perfect to play in bed.

Jester: A Foolish Ritual

I found my time with Jester: A Foolish Ritual to be rather brief, but very enjoyable nonetheless. I say that because this game is meant to be played online, but unfortunately, it just doesn’t have a single server online at any given time to take part in. However, the devs were smart enough to implement a future-proof remedy in the form of its solo mode.

This at least allowed me to play the game and actually review it, but it still felt like a shell of what the game really is. It’s a fun medieval-themed title where you’re tasked with trekking through dungeons to find Runes, which you’ll use to escape the clutches of the impending “Jester”. The Jester is the game’s villain, one who uses traps as well as its unending pursuit of you as it tries to capture and kill you.

The game is pretty simple, but its environments and overall feel are what really sold this game for me. I loved it, and I really hope that more players will give this game a chance so that it might take off one day. It’s really a unique experience.

Little Corners

I honestly really do love a cozy game, and nothing really is as cozy as some creativity. Little Corners is a game that I wish had more clones out there right now. You simply choose the theme you want to go with, and you’re given a backdrop with stickers for which you can decorate. It’s that simple. But it’s also extremely fun and relaxing.

I’m hoping that Little Corners sees updates in the future, as its adorable handful of pages to decorate are adorable, and I can definitely see some room for even more joining the roster. There are a bunch, but I want even more. I’m a glutton. This is the perfect game to play on a cold winter’s day inside under a nice warm blanky.
