Breaking news for Star Wars fans!
The official Star Wars Twitter account announced that we'll be getting a spin-off series to the recently-reinvigorated Clone Wars animated series. It’s called The Bad Batch.
A snippet from the website reads:
The series follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch—a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possess a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose.
It'll be extremely exciting to see what Squad 99 is up to after the fall of the Republic.
“The Bad Batch” debuted in the first episode of Clone Wars seventh season. The episode was titled after the fearsome group of commandos. The seventh season was met with great praise by Star Wars fans, so this will be a highly-anticipated series.
With the second season of The Mandolorian set to come out in October toward the end of the year, it'll be interesting to see if there are any cameos from one show to the other. The series is set to release in 2021 on Disney's streaming service, Disney+.
