3 Games I Can't Wait to Play on Steam Machine

Valve unveiled the Steam Machine last week, and it looks to change the PC gaming landscape forever. It’s a PC/console hybrid platform that allows you to play your favorite Steam games on a monitor or on a big screen in your living room. The Steam Machine goes even further by integrating a new VR headset called Valve Frame and a new and improved Steam Controller.

To put it lightly, the Steam Machine looks like a reincarnation of the Nintendo GameCube, only smaller and six times more powerful than the Steam Deck itself. You can still take it and play it anywhere you want to, even at a hotel while you’re on vacation.

As someone who owns the Steam Deck (despite not playing PC games as much as other gamers), I’m excited about the prospect of playing games in my Steam library on my TV and PC through a new hybrid console that’s about the size of an Echo Dot. Here are the three games I’m excited to play on the Steam Machine.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

I’m already playing Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on the Steam Deck when I’m away from my PS5, and it plays just as amazing on there as it does on my main console — provided I set the game to performance mode. Once the Steam Machine comes out, I’m gonna have an easier time setting it up wherever I go. And it’s certain to look a bit better, too. Plus, I’ll be offering my friends and family the Steam Controller as an invitation to race me.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Silksong is another great contender for the Steam Machine. I debated downloading the game to my Steam Deck before getting it on my Nintendo Switch 2, but it seems like the type of rogue-lite game that could could benefit from the 4K resolution treatment. All I have to do is plug the Steam Machine into a desktop monitor or smart TV and all the pixels will be smooth as glass, especially when I walk through the dark passageways and fight nasty bosses over and over again.

Hades

One of the most popular rogue-lites from Supergiant Games, Hades is already fun to play on Steam Deck, especially when you’re on the go and some people in your vicinity are watching you die over and over as you make your way out of the underworld to Olympus. I’m going to enjoy playing it on Steam Machine in the living room so that even more people will get to spectate every escape attempt I make — and I’m sure to get some wisecracking dialogue from the gods along the way.

The Steam Machine is set to launch in early 2026.
