CARDS VS GRAVITY Review: If You Thought Jenga Was Intense

What’s In The Box?

Cards Vs Gravity is the ultimate “play anywhere” game. It comes neatly packed in a travel-friendly bag you can clip to a backpack or toss into a purse. Inside, you’ll find a deck of completely waterproof cards, a stand that fits into most standard bottles, and a magnetic plate to hold everything steady. It’s minimal, functional, and made for mobility.

If you opt for the Pro version, which I highly recommend, you’ll also score some bonus cards that add even more fun and chaos to the mix.

Gameplay & Design

Setting up is a breeze. All you need is a small-mouthed bottle, water, soda, beer, whatever you have on hand. That’s the beauty of this game: it’s instantly playable anywhere. Stuck waiting at a restaurant? At the airport before a flight? Hanging out at your favorite brewery? Boom—game time.

The waterproof cards are no joke. Many games say their cards are waterproof, but still warp or get flimsy when wet. Not these. I’ve had water spill over them more times than I can count, especially from bottles tipping over during play, and they still look and feel brand new after about six months of semi-regular use. I honestly believe you could play this underwater and the cards wouldn’t care.

The game itself plays out in two rounds, if you make it to the second one. In round one, everyone tries to get rid of all their cards without dropping them. Drop a card on your turn? Pick it up and keep going. It’s simple, tense, and fast.

But round two? That’s where things get cutthroat, and I LOVE it. Now you’re choosing cards for the next player to stack. Color doesn’t matter anymore, so go wild: make it balanced, or don’t. It’s chaotic, hilarious, and full of those moments where everyone holds their breath as the tower wobbles. This round turns a chill stacking game into a battle of strategy and sabotage. And if you add the bonus cards from the Pro Version into the mix, you get a gravity bender and buster card that make for some real “NO WAY” moments.

Feedback

My only real gripe, if you can call it that. the game doesn’t come with a bottle or stand of its own. A custom CvG bottle would be a cool addition, because on the rare chance you don’t have a compatible bottle nearby, you’re out of luck. It’s not a common issue, but it’s something to think about.

Verdict

Cards Vs Gravity is a clever, portable party game that blends suspense, strategy, and just the right amount of chaos. Its waterproof design and quick setup make it perfect for spontaneous fun—whether you're at a brewery, waiting in line, or traveling. While a dedicated bottle would be a nice addition, the game's flexibility and durability more than make up for it. If you’re looking for a high-stakes alternative to Jenga that fits in your bag with way less set up, this one’s a winner.
