After a six-year gap since the previous entry, Nioh 3 is finally out and brings new tales of historical figures mingling with supernatural elements. It also provides the biggest shake-up to the series so far with bigger maps to explore, an additional combat style, and a story that takes place over multiple eras.
An action soulslike with these properties certainly does sound daunting. If you’re wondering how long it takes to beat Nioh 3, read on below as we explain how many hours of entertainment (or anger) you’ll need to invest.
How long does it take to beat Nioh 3?
It goes without saying that everyone plays games differently and the time to reach the credits will differ from player to player. A brutally challenging soulslike such as Nioh 3 is the prime example of this, but we can still give some estimates for how long it will take to finish it.
If you’ve spent some time in the Soulslike genre or if you’re well-versed in the Nioh series, it should take around 40 hours to see the credits while sticking close to the main questline. Those looking to get 100% completion is likely to take between 90-100 hours. There are a lot of optional enemies to fight and a ton of collectibles to discover on these big maps after all.
Conversely, if you’re like me and not as acclimated to these types of games, it could take even longer. I saw the credits at around 85 hours, but there were quite a few bosses that stumped me until I finished some side quests and leveled up. You can consider my experience closer to a newbie who completed a good chunk of the side content as well.
No matter if you’re playing solo or in co-op, you’re bound to spend a lot of time in Nioh 3. Just remember that you can always step back and explore if a boss is too challenging at the moment. The game really feels designed for this type of experience, especially with the many collectibles and hidden skills out there.
Nioh 3 is available now on PS5 and PC.
