Much like the first two tough-as-nails Nioh titles, Nioh 3 supports online co-op. While you’re inside a mission, you can request players to join and fight beside you by offering an Ochoko Cup, or you can choose to join another player who has used an Ochoko Cup from within their mission. Alternatively, you can even create groups of up to three players in Expeditions, giving you a chance to work with friends across multiple missions as a dedicated team without requiring the use of Ochoko Cups.
However, you may be wondering whether you’ll be able to group up with folks who play on a different platform than you. And we’re sad to say that we have some unfortunate news.
Does Nioh 3 have crossplay?
Unfortunately, Nioh 3 does not support crossplay. This means that players on PS5 can only play with other PS5 players, while PC players can only team up with other PC players. This is in line with previous games in the series, which also did not feature crossplay. Whether the franchise will ever add this option is unknown at the moment.
While this is a disappointing omission, the player base across both platforms should at least ensure that random friendly players will frequently answer your summoning call — provided you have the Ochoko Cups to beckon them your way.
Still, if you have a friend on another platform, you’ll sadly be unable to invite them to your game. With this in mind, we recommend discussing your platform preferences with any friends you’d like to play with ahead of purchasing the game, and then try to buy it in the same ecosystem.
Nioh 3 is available now on PlayStation 5 and PC.
