How to Repair Items in Hytale

GuidesHytaleby Samuel Moreno

You’ve likely already noticed that the weapons, armor, and tools you use in Hytale all have a durability meter. Having your armor break during combat or suffering from a broken pickaxe while mining for Thorium Ore is a major inconvenience. Thankfully, you can repair these items instead of constantly crafting replacements.

The mechanics behind repairing are a bit different from similar games and include a unique detriment you should look out for. Here’s what you need to know to keep your items in tip-top shape.

How to Repair in Hytale

There is only one way to repair in Hytale, and that involves using Repair Kits. No matter if it's a tool or gear used for combat, you only need to use up one Repair Kit to improve the item's condition.

Making one of these can be a little complicated in your initial hours. Although any starting Tier 1 Workbench can craft one, the ingredients to craft a Repair Kit are Linen Scraps x2, Iron Ingot x1, and Light Leather x1.

Linen Scraps are primarily dropped by human-like enemies within the starting Emerald Wilds zone, such as the Skeleton Fighters or the Goblins that reside inside caves. Smelting Iron Ore inside a Furnace will produce Iron Ingots for you. Small animals can drop Light Hide when slain, which can then be placed onto a Tanning Rack to produce Light Leather.

Applying a Repair Kit is much easier than crafting one. Using it from your hotbar will bring up a list of all the armor, tools, and weapons you’re currently holding. Their durability is also listed, which is helpful in case you’re lugging multiples of the same item. Simply click on what you want repaired to restore it to maximum durability.

However, there is one big caveat worth remembering. Any repaired items lose out on 10% of their maximum durability. This means that they will start breaking faster over time. The alternative of having a broken item is certainly worse, but there might come a time when you should craft stronger items instead — especially if neither you nor your multiplayer friends want to carry Repair Kits in your inventory.
