Hytale has multiple ores that can be generated in a world, each of which is scattered around the various biomes. Thorium ore is one of the first you and your multiplayer friends come across outside of the beginner areas and a worthy endeavor for taking on stronger enemies.

Where to Find Thorium Ore in Hytale
Although every world is procedurally generated in Hytale, you always start inside the starter biomes that make up Emerald Grove, a.k.a. Zone 1. To find Thorium Ore, you’ll need to head into the biomes housed within the desert-based Howling Sands (Zone 2).
The good news is that the green color of Thorium Ore sticks out like a sore thumb within the brown hues of this zone. They’re easy to spot if one happens to spawn in a block above ground. The bad news is that the chances of it spawning on the surface are pretty rare, as they’re more commonly found deep inside caves.
It’s best to bring a decent pickaxe and plenty of torches before you go spelunking. Thorium ore’s darker green color stands out far less when you’re running through a dark cave system. Once you do find a block with dark ore sticking out, it’s time to get to mining the nearby vein.
Carry this loot back to your home base and stick it in a furnace to smelt Thorium Ingots. Just keep in mind that your various workbenches will need to be upgraded to Tier 2 before you can craft Thorium armor and weapons.
