Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 Remake had been announced back in 2015, and it’s 2018 already, but the developer still hasn’t released concrete information on the project except for a few pieces of clues here and there. In fact, due to Capcom’s silence on the game, some fans, including myself, have wondered whether the project is still on-going or if the developer plans to reveal something this coming E3.
However, the guys at Rely on Horror may have a few details on the project. A trusted source claims that RE2 Remake is running an improved version of the RE Engine, which is the same engine used to make the latest main entry in the series, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Apparently, Capcom’s goal for the remake is to have the game running resolutions of 1080p at 30fps on a standard PSR and native 4K at 60fps on the PS4 Pro. If these rumors were true, then the upcoming remake will feature the best-looking Raccoon City, including classic zombies and monsters such as lickers to date.
Furthermore, it is claimed by the sources that RE2 Remake will sport a modern over-the-shoulder camera, featured in Resident Evil 4, 5 and 6. This is a vast departure from the original game’s fixed camera angle that became iconic since the introduction of the original Resident Evil in 1996. Also, characters in the game will remain faithful to their classic look. Expect Leon and Claire to sport their traditional outfits and appearances, and hey, maybe we also get to see Jill Valentine in this game, but that’s just from me.
Of course, these pieces of information are still just rumors and speculation. Capcom is yet to comment on whether any of the details mentioned above are correct, but hopefully, the developer will reveal information on the project soon. I mean, its been three years now, a short update is long overdue. Hopefully, this year’s E3 will bring more light to Resident Evil 2 Remake.
