After spending your first few hours in the quite lengthy Nioh 3, you've likely come across numerous yokai that act as enemies or cute little collectibles to find on the map. You may have even met a Mujina, who can be interacted with using emotes. Another example of those emote-centric yokai is the powerful Nurikabe.
Whether you’ve discovered this wall with eyes by chance or have it marked on your map, Nurikabe are an intimidating sight. Being able to passively handle them using gestures instead of fighting is a great way to avoid conflict and unnecessary damage. Here is how to deal with a Nurikabe in Nioh 3.
How to Please a Nurikabe in Nioh 3
If you locate a Nurikabe and perform the correct type of gesture in front of it, the yokai will peacefully disappear and leave behind some loot at the same time. To do this, you’ll need to open up the gesture menu by pressing R1 + the Options button at the same time.
Something important to stress is that the Nurikabe won’t be looking for an individual gesture, but simply a specific type. That means you just need to perform a positive, neutral, or hostile gesture and hope it’s the right one. You’ll have a fight on your hands if you choose wrong.
The good news is that every Nurikabe gives you two chances to guess, although attacking it will use up one of those chances. Being able to guess two times is great for your odds, but it still isn’t a guarantee.
This is where any nearby Bloody Graves can be of use. Any player who dies after guessing wrong will leave behind a Bloody Grave that specifies an incorrect gesture type they used. Keep this information in mind, and you’re sure to pick the correct gesture with one of your two guesses.
Removing a Nurikabe is always in your best interests. Many block the way to treasure or Hot Springs, while others act as environmental shortcuts. If you happen to see an interactable paper talisman on a wall, you’ve ended up on the other side of a Nurikabe. Ripping it off will destroy the Nurikabe, that way you don’t need to fight it or test your luck in a guessing game.
