Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Wireless Modular Controller Review: Redemption Of A Controller With Great Promise

Review sample provided by Turtle Beach

Most days, I feel like I’ve tried just about every elite-style controller out there. They all do some really interesting things, but never really make me feel like I need to keep using them as my main controller. I typically just fall back into using my tried and true Xbox Core Controller. But with Turtle Beach’s new and improved Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller, I may have to eat those words.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

From its last un-Reloaded version, the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded really hasn’t changed all that much in terms of the way it looks. It sports a sturdy all black or all white design and allows players the chance to adjust its various modular parts.

I’ll say that the controller truly does feel sturdy, and there’s a great premium feel to the controller throughout. My biggest critique of the last iteration of this controller was the fact that its deadzones came dead on arrival for me (pun intended). So I’m proud to report that this controller didn’t give me any remotely identifiable deadzone or stick-drift issues for the last month that I’ve been using it.

Functionality

I’d have to admit that this new and improved version of the Pro BFG actually impresses me. The controller plays extremely smoothly overall, and the new touchpad came in handy when I had to navigate in-game screens or programs between games. It’s clear that Turtle Beach really wanted to make this controller a true competitor to other brands’ own elite-style controllers, and I think that the premium, precise feel of this one really sets it apart from the rest.

In fact, I haven’t gone back to my Core Controller once since I unboxed this thing, and I don’t see going back anytime soon. I mostly tested this controller out in Call of Duty lobbies, and even after having taken a break from playing for a few months, this controller consistently helped me get to the top of the leaderboards. Though I’m sure that my sheer skill had something to do with it, the lockable triggers, smooth thumbsticks, and responsive buttons really helped my TTK.

Conclusion

Honestly, I have no notes for the Turtle Beach Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded wireless modular controller. This controller eats and does not leave crumbs behind. For its competitive price of $189.99, I think it’s better than most first-party elite controllers out there, and that’s coming from a girl who’s owned many, several times over.
